Rain at last
My garden and the surrounding fields are happy, but I am already missing waking up to the promise of blue skies and a dry sunny day.
The lure of the garden has meant that I am rather late in updating the website. Apologies if you have been waiting for the new pricelist to appear.
Despite our advancing years, Jim is now 77 ( a lady never reveals her age) we are still fortunate to be fit mentally and physically. We are actively rearing poults on contract all year round and during the summer months we concentrate on rearing poults to sell as growers for Christmas finished birds.
We have kept the same poult breeds and hatch dates as last year and have had favourable feedback .
Unfortunately the only real change is the price. We have kept this as low as possible in order to make it still worthwhile trading but in line with our day old poult suppliers we have had to make an increase of 0.50 pence per poult.
It is also becoming harder to deliver small quantities of poults long distances as the motorways become ever busier and journey times longer. We try to accommodate as many customers as possible but this may mean meeting us rather than a door to door service.
We are lucky to have Peter, who many of you will have met ,as our principal delivery driver. He has been an important part of our business for nearly 40 years and has a great deal of experience in handling poults. Jim and I enjoy delivering together and meeting customers when we can.
Collecting from the farm is always an option and gives you the chance to meet us and see how and where your poults are reared. Obviously we try to observe good biosecurity with the threat of bird flu ever present so direct access into the sheds is not possible but we will bring the poults to your vehicle and you can see the site and meet us.
Hoping for a good rearing season and trade at Christmas (sorry to mention that word so early) and more sunshine too.
Ann
